I clipped a friends pony tonight who had really long hair and the coat on the hind end was very greasy so clippers found it really hard. I really struggled to finish off the clip as the clippers were struggling so much getting through the coat. Clipped Jiggy with them the other day and they were fine. Would you get them serviced just to make sure they are still ok after today?
Also, how much would you charge for a full clip? i only charged £20 but thinking after i told my mum that I should have charged more especially as i blunted 2 sets of blades today!

Can you ask her to contribute to sharpening of blades too..? how good a friend is she as i would be devastated if a friend of mine didint feel she could ask for a contribution to sorting something that was down to my horse.

A friend of mine clipped two of mine a few years ago, cost me £80 in total (£40 each!!) hence i never asked her again. It was a full clip although i would never have thought she would charge me £40 each but i thought as she had offered i couldn't ask how much she would charge before hand...

I charge £25 "friends" rate. Personally would charge £30 if you can get away with it, my prices will go up at first oppurtunity

I think i will ask for more next time, the problem is she is a friend of a friend so don't really know her that well. Gave her pony a bib and belly a couple of months ago and charged £15, so should have charged more. Will know for next time

I paid my friend £40 for a full clip but she had the same trouble where the horse's coat is long (and they're a bit grubby underneath!), the clippers struggled to get through. I don't think you are alone there!
