Clipping!!

When is the right time to clip?Is it too late to do it now?
Sorry probably VERY stupid question but ive never clipped before!! Also what types of clip can you do?

I would still clip now if the horse was sweaty and hairy. I would however prob go for a hunter or full clip otherwise you will have lines into the spring and summer.
