clipping?????

My Springer spaniel Harvey is very very hairy and could do with a clip.
I was wondering if anybody here clips their own dogs and if so what clipper setting do they use ie, guard number ..if used atall etc.
I would take him to a grooming place but TBH I have my own clippers and he would probably prefer me to do it anyway.
Just out of interest , has anybody any idea how much it costs to have a dog clipped at a dog salon????

I clip doggies.......depending on the type of clippers u use.........I use Oster clippers and the size 7f blade gives a lovely smart but short clip.

Thanks CALA...I have liveryman clippers and theyjust came with a narrow and a wide blade , which I use to do Belle on.
May leave it til after next week now due to the pants weather forecast!!

no guard needed with the blade I mentioned.......I used to charge £26 for a springer spaniel but price varies with condition of coat, also area u are in

If u have not got this size blade I mentioned u can use others.........let me know what clippers u use and I will try and help

Just looked ...they are liveryman harmony clippers...new this year! Replaced my awful maverick ones!!

i gave my springer a grade 2 all over! meant he dried off really quickly after getting covered in mud.

So is there only 2 blades then? no sizes just medium and wide?

I have used my 10 blade b4 on spaniels....infact I have just done 2 cavis on a 10 blade, cos the owner wanted them extra short

........It will be a very short cut, but still looks ok ........but hey! it will grow back

Thats hoping the blade is the equivlant to mine.....If not the worst case scenario is he may look like he has alopecia LOL

Oh well he can match Finny the greyhound then with his bald thighs and belly...lol.
