Clodagh - Hows Piper ?

Thank you for asking.
I did, it was horrible and I feel very guilty!
He had to be knocked out in the end as even sedated he was not letting a lady with a scalpel near his danglys - my OH sympathises!
He was a poor little chap straight after but now he is home has had a good snoozle and is scoffing hay again. Loads of blood though, more than I expected, its not dripping now but his hind legs are caked. Be thankful you had a filly!
Chris House, my vet practice owner, has put his mare in foal to Groomsbridge May I, shes a similar stamp to Dixie so he came and had a good look of him and thought he was fab, so thats something I was glad to hear.

Interestingly when I was young I remember Mum and Dad having the foals gelded and they were just left out, he has to be on very limited turnout for ages, and no rough and tumble with Ollie for 6 weeks!!

Hope he doesn't get to swollen having to be in. Good luck with his growth i worry about my young lady's joints as they are quite big but no squiggy or pain so vet happy at moment.
I,m sure the least time he has had his bits the soonest forgotten!

Glad to hear its over and done with, hope he recovers quickly. If Chris thinks he's fab, then he must be - but you knew that already :D

Strange about the staying in, is that because of his legs or the castration ?, a friend of mine had her 9 month old colt done this spring and he had to stay out 24/7 - different vets/different views maybe.

Because of the castration - they weren't at all worried about his legs. Hes allowed into a small pen so until today has just had access to two stables with a big 'patio' out the front. Today I am building an electric fence enclosure so they can come out onto the grass. He has hardly swollen at all so far.

Hi Clodagh i hope Pipers okay going to get Fonzie gelded in the next month while he is still on Roo for comfort. Are Theresa and Dolly okay have not heard from her recently ?

Hes fine, quite bright and cheery. Bits are a bit drippy though, hes so fed up with me lifting his tail and having a good look, thank goodness hes not a kicker.
Theresa is fine, she has been away for a few days.
