This is the footage from my friends helmet cam today. Used hand signals and voice to try to slow this person down and they ignored it.
She only stopped because Faran came within inches of landing on her bonnet. I’m currently camped out on the couch with movies because I honestly just can’t get my head around the human race.

It’s been reported to the police. I just don’t get why people don’t take 5seconds out of their day to let us pass 😓
I get it cycling too, and at one point I felt like a right moaning minnie. I had 4 incidents in a month

People are idiots! But on the bright side you should be so proud of how well you've bought Faran up, he coped really well with that, especially since hes still young.

A woman came speeding up when we were hand walking the cob, my OH was leading him and I was so busy glaring at her and signaling for her to slow down that I didn't notice OH had stopped and I walked right into an ample cob bottom and bounced back off again. It rather ruined the effect of my glare and hand signals. My pony was more startled by me than the car in the end but he just gave me a sigh probably thought how embarrassing his human was.

What a knob head, shame their car wasn't kicked.
Shame there was any audio.

😲😲 That was awful!

I think some people are pretty dense. They have no idea how to pass a horse and even less idea of what different hand signals mean.

Of course some are just arrogant and do these things maliciously.

I was having a lovely ride in the very welcome sunshine on Friday when a small van came barrelling towards me at the bottom of end of the village. He clearly wasn't slowing down , so I correctly and politely used my arm to ask him to slow down.

He pulled up next to me, wound his window down and yelled a load of abuse at me.

I'm usually quite thick skinned but it actually really upset me and ruined what had been a lovely hack up to that point.

I can't remember the last time I hacked out without having to put up with abusive, arrogant or dangerous drivers.

I think what really upsets me is that they don't see us as human beings or women. If we're on the back of a horse we're fair game.

I wanted to ask that man how he would feel if a man abused his wife or daughter in that way.

I have got hatcam footage but haven't felt like I've wanted to watch it.

I think the problem is that no one cares about anyone else nowadays. No respect for anyone, its all tunnel vision. I had a conversation with Police Scotland the other week about re launching the Lose the Blinkers Campaign that they ran a few years ago. I think that helps educate people if they’re pulled over and told about what they’ve done wrong when passing a horse. Although it should be common sense and common courtesy but that clearly lacks in abundance these days.

YIKES.
Some people are really sweet - We regularly pass a man in a jeep, Who ALWAYS pulls in, switches off the engine, waves at us, and waits until we are safely by.
But then - there was a total nutcase absolutely bombing it in a tractor taking up 95% of the road, with big forks full of flapping silage wrapping. Long story short pony got so scared and we both were almost killed.

Blinking heck, what an utter tool! Fair play to you and your horses for coping with that twonk barrelling towards you. It's seeing things like this that make me feel like enforced retirement from finding isn't so bad after all. Some of the driving I come across in a car is bad enough, let alone being on a horse. Glad you've reported it and are all unscathed

I had a driver slow right down and stop next to me and my horse and I leant over to thank him and got a torrage of abuse. Not personal admittedly so possibly not as bad as yours but that horses should not be allowed on the road, etc, etc. Really shook me up as well. I go out decked out like a hi vis advert and horse was behaving immaculately. We had just had a big lorry go by us, which is why I half expected the driver to commend me on my hi vis and horse and not be horrible. I did point out to him quite calmly I was abiding by the Highway Code and thanked him for stopping.
