Posting this for a friend.
Her horse needs a new saddle, her current saddle is slipping back to much and has no knee rolls at all.
Her horse has massive shoulders so he is pushing the saddle back, hence the saddler trying a straighter cut saddle.
He is fairly broad across the back but has a good wither, he is irish hunter type.
My friend wants a close contact saddle as she prefers them with a bit more knee for jumping (she hunts, team chases and hunter trials).
Thoses of you with close contact saddles can you say what they are, what type of horse, how you find them and roughly how much the cost (new or second hand).
Thanks

I love close contact saddles as this is what I learned to ride in Canada in (most people ride hunters where I lived and a cc saddle is what pretty much everyone rides in) and they seemt o be the type of saddle that fits Hattie the best anyways. I do dressage and jumping in mine as I like a flat seat and little diddy knee rolls.
Hattie is a TB with good withers and takes a M/W in saddles.

I've got an Classic Saddlery Ashland saddle which I like as the flaps aren't too far forward as Hattie hates anything on her shoulders and she can and will let me know by bucking me off! Alot of CC saddles are cut forward but the Classic Saddlery ones seem to have a more conservative forward flap which doesn't bug Hattie so may be good for your friend's big shouldered horse. I'm 5'9" with long legs and the flap is even still long enough for my leg but doesn't bug her shoulders.

Classic Saddlery saddles are about £1000+ new but used, they sell for about £250- £450. This is the third one I've owned over the years and all I've bought used in this price range.
