Closeness in front on a young pony, will it sort itself out?

I've found a 4yo regd connie whom I like very much. The only thing I wasn't sure about was that he was close in front and behind. He is underdeveloped and hasn't really got any muscle at the moment. The woman selling him said she wouldn't worry about it because he is young and un-muscled and it'll sort itself out. I trust her because I have known her a long time but I just wanted some other opinions about it because at the end of the day she is still trying to sell me a pony!

It depends on the individual pony. My sec D went through a phase (2-3yrs) where he was incredibly narrow in front, and now he has a big chest - but I wasnt concerned as I saw him as a foal and he had a good front then so I was pretty confident he would fill out. So yes they can muscle up and develop, but you can still get ponies that are just built narrow.
Is this the Garryhack Toreen one you posted about earlier ?

My welsh colt was very close infront and behind when I bought him, but legs were nice and straight and within a month of proper feeding and living out 24/7 rather than in a small pen and he looks almost normal, think by the time he is 3 he wil be fine.

It depends upon whether you are willing to gamble! After all, the woman doesn't have a crystal ball...

Some sort themselvs out, some don't. There are plenty of fully grown horses that are too close for comfort.

I guess it depends whether he moves stright and what you want to do with him. And most importantly has he a nice nature and do you like him as a person? Unless you are showing, if it is minor and he's a stright mover what does it really matter? It could also improve vastly with maturity and better condition.
