My mare was on box rest for PSD. Then developed petrionitis. Recovered then developed a clot in her jugular vein after having a cannula in for over a week. Another week in hosp ! Was treated with hot compress and DMSO . Home and is bright but still there is swelling by her ear after 2 weeks. Still feeding elevated but soon as head is down to hand graze ( still cant turn out due to PSD as it too wet and slippy ) the swelling behind ear gets far worse. Also her cheek has some fluid in it.
We are bringing her back into work this week. Vet said we need to just see how it goes. Does anyone have any experience with this ? thanks in advance !
