Hi,

This may sound daft but I just want to make sure I don't make any stupid mistakes or make myself look ridiculously out of place...

I've got my first lesson coming up after not riding since I was a child (18 years ago) and I just wondered what people would advise in terms of clothing for a first lesson please?

The emails from the school only mention the generic comfortable, weather appropriate etc.

My thoughts were maybe something like running tights/ gym leggings and a comfortable t-shirt due to how warm it has been. The school provide hats and there's an option of boot hire too, although I'll take some short boots (technically "fashion" Chelsea style boots) just in case as they're better than nothing.

Obviously if all goes well then I'll be buying the appropriate kit but don't want to fork out too early and potentially waste money.

Thanks

When I came back to riding I just wore some leggings I had (generic yoga/running ones from TK Maxx, non slippery fabric) for a while before getting some new jods/riding tights. I also just wear a comfy t-shirt/long sleeved shirt depending on temperature. I would think those would do to get you going again, just be aware your leggings aren't the shiny/slippery fabric kind as can be super slidey on saddles without seat saver.

ETA - Enjoy your first lesson, and don't worry about looking silly - just be comfortable, safe, and have loads of fun! :)

If you’re going to wear thin gym leggings and short fashion boots, stick some long socks on as well just to save your calves - could end up a bit bruised.
All of the above sounds totally ok!

I didn't even think about the shiny sort of material, don't want to be sliding all over the place!

Thank you I do have a tendency to overthink these sort of things but really looking forward to going :)
