A very worrying start to the day with an early, out of hours, visit to the vet with Stanley. No diagnosis but vet suspects gastro intestinal problem, no vomiting or diarrhoea but tender in the area of the small intestine. Poor Stanley was clearly feeling very unwell. We have a huge sweet cherry tree in the garden, never get any fruit from it as the birds nab the lot but I'd noticed Stanley had found some stones in the courtyard and wondered if he might have swallowed one or more of them. Vet thought if he had he'd probably pass them but it may cause discomfort. We went home with Stan having had an antispasmodic jab and with a watch and wait brief.
Well, thank goodness, he seems to be OK and back to normal. However, I have spent the afternoon sweeping the courtyard (which is quite large) to remove any other stones that the birds may have dropped. Stanley has done a lot of barking at the broom but eventually shut up. I think I may have my first terrier that is broom friendly. I've also been checking any poo I've come across for stones. I've had better afternoons, please keep your fingers and toes crossed that Stanley is well.
