Sorry for blatantly posting in here rather than Veterinary....

Vet came today (unfortunately wasn't there, so this is all 3rd hand info) Asked them to check Finni's vision as he's been a lot more stressy and flipping out in warm up, particularly at loud noises - tannoy, lorries passing, dogs barking.

Finni has always been totally bombproof.

Anyway, apparently he has cloudiness in both eyes. Vet wants to refer him on to opthamology specialist.

Anyone had any experience of this? Treatment, prognosis etc

Thanks T xx

Try not to worry just yet. It may be cataracts...which can be surgically removed.

Hope it all turns out well - all the signs you have described about Finn changing recently does lead me to think that perhaps his vision is being compromised.

Fingers crossed.

My friend's horse got a cyst in his eye. The cyst cleared up with treatment but has left his eye cloudy (severity of cloudiness depends on how sunny it is) and he has only partial sight in that eye.

Not sure.

It's quite a complex diagnosis, from what I can gather. He certainly has some of the symptoms, but not swelling or pus.

The vet only mentioned abnormality of his lens, nothing about iris or ciliary body.

He had an ulcer on one eye, in Sept 2005 which took 6 weeks to heal. his behaviour change started in Feb 2006. Wonder whether it is related..?

Maybe he has lesions on the lens? Resulting from the ulcer? My dun horse in England had a butterfly lesion on one of his eyes. He had had an ulcer a few years before I bought him and it had healed up fine but had caused the lesion on healing. It never caused him any problems though although I was aware that he might be sensitive to uveitis afterwards, however he never was.
