Clunking teeth whilst being ridden

I've noticed that sometimes whilst being ridden, Shrimp 'clunks' his teeth together very gently in time with his trot rhythm. This is usually when he is trotting along as usual and not doing anything different that I can think of.
Does anyone elses horse do this or is mine just weird?

normally, my instructor told me that when they are thinking or concentrating they fiddle around in their mouth?

So this could be what he does when his concentrating then?

That would make sense seeing as he was relaxed and doing what I was asking him to do. Maybe hes not so weird then

Might misunderstood... But if hes playing with his bit... its because hes thinking about it which is good... Why i use rollers and links on youngesters...To play around and concentrate on there bit rather then going againest it.

yeah! Oscar does it and instructor seems to praise it.. normally he does when he 'gets' what i want him to do. and or when he is concentrating

YAY! I did think that his jaw must be relaxed for him to do it

My big lad used to do it. Every stride you used to hear them knock together, like he had his mouth slightly open. Only in trot. Think he just had a relaxed jaw.
