Hopethis helps you i would not have anything but clyde x as i love them

cheers thanks tht really helps!! wasnt sure about the thourougbred, with the temperement because they can be hot headed, but that one of yours is very pretty

i have had a few clyde/ th and none have been hot headed. i suppose you can get a hot headed clydesdale just your luck though putting the pictures up would give you an idea od build as well and with 2 examples

We have a Clydie X (?not sure? TB? Connemara??) - and he's the best little horse in the world, and jumps like a stag!!

there's a stud in the US who say that they are breeding Clydie X TBs for future Olympic horses .... they may be being a little bit over-ambitious, but their horses, look lovely, and the temperaments sound fab. I'd go for a TB!!! There are lots of nice TB stallions standing in the UK and Ireland.

Definately TB as they are a great cross.
As for hot headed my two TB stallions are the most laid back horses on the stud apart from the youngsters by them that is.

Definitely a TB.........I actually would like to get a Clydesdale mare and put it in-foal to a TB.

My horse in a lifetime is Flo, Clydesdale x TB (stallion TB), 23 and still in full work and hunting. She is perfect, perfect manners, temp, and she is forward going! She also jumps like a stag.....

Just a thought, if shes pure bred Clydesdale - are they on the endangered list? If so, wouldn't it be best to put her to another pure Clydesdale

I'm another who'd recommend using a TB stallion.

There are so many to choose from, so you are almost guaranteed to find one that stamps its stock with the criterion you're looking for.

Breeding is always a gamble of course, but you can't go too far wrong in selecting a stallion that has a kind and amenable temperament himself, and has plenty of stock on the ground for you to see (or learn about) to prove the type and temperament he passes on.

We think one of ours is Clydesdale x
She is 16.2hh herself, and does throw big foals!!

Her 5yo son has a superb temperament, although he is 17hh Plus!! He is by a hanovarian who is now unfortunately up in the pastures above!!
Here he is...

Then last year she had a foal to a 16.1hh coloured WB, who seems a little livlier than his half brother!! But hs is definitely smaller build and hopefully won't be such a giant!!

I would love to put her to a full TB but she'll be going back to a coloured 3/4 TB this year as we have a free return from our other mare who didn't hold to him!

thankyou so much for all your help its been very useful, just one more question this has probably already been answereda million times but if i coloured stallion is said to be homozygous does it mean tht it throws the same colour foal everytime

homozygous means he will throw a coloured foal regardless of the mare he is put to....it could still be piebald, skewbald, etc dependant on his and the mare's tendencies.
