Coat change mystery!!

My 3 yr old gelding develops at patches around his eyes at this time of the year when his winter coat comes through, he is completely black and almost looks like he us wearing glasses through the winter months with the skin looking much lighter and loosing hair??? Any ideas??

just natural. my horse is very dark brown in summer with white eye liner ( even has the Amy winehouse flick )

ignore me (just after a shake ) but shows his colour the best

but goes the same colour as a reindeer in winter

don't worry you just have a much more interestingly coloured horse than everybody else and as for the loosing hair some horses will continue to replace coat during the winter. only worry if he becomes bald

He looks dun to me even in his summer coat. As it's brown with yellow undertones!

yeh, he's a sooty buckskin like a dun but not a dun

Thank you! His eyes are just like that! Him and his sister are completely black and came as a pair but she didn't have the winter goggles that he gets :-D
