Hello

I am off to a local show at the weekend and there is a cob class which I am going to put ponio in - thought it would be a change to jumping/driving classes.

She is a traditional type and has a wonderful energetic action bless her - moves really well for a heavyweight cob!

Thing is she is only 13.3 - and although she is defo a cob - would a judge mark her down for being small as you tend to think of a cob being 14.2 - 15.2? Mind you I wouldnt want to change her in any way!

Any ideas if height makes a difference?

my coloured is 14.1 and i show him...

top height is 15.1..then they are classed as "mxi-cobs", of which some are HUGE

If you are doing show cob then ideally you want to be as close to 15.1 as you can. The smallest height for a show cob is 14.2. There are now maxi cobs classes for those over 15.1.

However, if it is a mixed class and they are allowing show and traditional cobs, then you will get away with a 13.3 - trads are normally split under BSPA rules to up to 15 hands and above 15 hands.

Wouldn't be too bothered if is a local show, but do check that it is an open cob rather than a hogged show cob class.

Have fun and good luck.

Hello

Its an open class for traditional and show so we will be ok on that part!!

God it would be funny if I hadnt checked and it was a hogged class as her mane is way past her shoulder!!

I thought doing a show without the task of getting the carridge on the waggon would be so much more enjoyable!!

Thanks for your help .

The small local shows I go to have all sorts in them - my cob is 16.2 (but if he is placed it will usually be 3rd to 4th) but there are small cobs in there. Just make sure that there aren't separate classes for hogged and trimmed and traditional (and enter the right one!

). Have fun!

Sounds perfect for her and you! Any pics of her? She sounds lovely! My "cob" is 17HH - I can't really describe him as anything other than Cob, or maybe "Hunter" I guess? But I still enter cob classes. Americans tell me I can class him as a Drum Horse due to his size and colour...

no pics at the mo but will put some up tonight when I am at home - or maybe - on sunday after we kick ass in the cob class and then go on to win the championship !!! LOL
