My friend has just bought the most stunning little 2 year old Cob gelding but he was kept in a straw bed stable 24/7 "so he didnt injure himself while for sale"..!!!! The problem is that he has extremely bad urine stains on his belly and hind legs...and he STINKS..!!!!
He is now turned out at grass but was wondering what we could use to give him a really good clean up..??? He is a minimally marked tri colour and his back, sides and front end are pristine .

love the responses so far!!

Best thing is washing up liquid, or you can get products for stable stains and white ponios- don't leave the white horse shampoo on for too long though- my sister did and had a purple pony!

Purple pony??? What like my avatar???

This I gotta try... :D:D:D:D:D

look up, Safe care products on FB! They are a god send! Owning 2 coloured cobs myself i couldtn live without it! Also, lots of hot water and fairy liquid! I also like baby shampoo:rolleyes: smellls a treat! I also would scrub the smelly bits with some diluted dettol to remove the stench!

WE NEED PICTURES OF THE CUTIE!:D

think skewbald but with purple patches. She had just put it on him, scrubbed him up a treat and thought she might need some more warm water to wash him off thoroughly... the day before her first ever show with him. He is one of the most popular ponies on our show circuit (as in he's recognised everywhere he goes as the superstar pony!!)

After alot of warm water and scrubbing, most of it came out. The rest was hidden with talc and water paste!!

A good bath is the only answer Im afraid.
Id suggest a pre bath treatment also:
To get rid of the stable stains use a grooming block to remove the worst then make up a mix of baby talc and water into a paste smear it on the stains let it dry then brush out, that should lift the most of the rest.
Then a really good bath with a good horse shampoo for stable stains, and you should have a sweet smelling pretty boy.
Good luck, I had this year with my filly who went through the stage making pooh pillows, rolling in her own pooh and wee, she was a filthy girl and she stunk like a pole cat! lol :)

Warm water & apply whichever shampoo you choose with one of those little shower scrunchies...you can scrub away with those without doing any harm.
