Markie is currently sporting the most splendid, walrus type moustache! It's so thick, you can comb it!
We're just about to start the 'winter woolies' show season and I'm undecided whether or not to chop it off. One article I read said that a full moustache is the sign of a proper gypsy vanner and should be shown off with pride, other articles say trim the jaw but leave whiskers (I'm not sure if a moustache is classed as whiskers or not).
He's shown as a veteran but we usually do the 'heavy' class as well (if they have one), or, the coloured class. By the summer, the 'tache will be gone, so, what would you do? Manly moustache, or, clean shaven?

Whiskers on ours get shortened a little to smarten things up, mostache gets left. I reckon if she puts so much effort into such a thick cool mostache then there must be a use to it - so it stays!

For showing, then sadly I'd take it off....even though if traditional classes were being judged for their type, then it shouldn't matter!

One of our fellas has one that looks like Davy Jones off Pirates at the moment!

If you are heading for heavy showing classes then definately leave it on. Maybe tidy up the chin etc. but never so much so that it is obvious that you've got him with the scissors. Moustaches are natural and you are showing him in a natural state! Embrace the tash!!!

P.s. can we see a picture?

I leave my cobs on over winter, but when I clipped him a few weeks ago it was looking straggly, either it was beginning to fall out or he'd rubbed some out, so I whizzed it off with the clippers.
Plus he's hogged with legs clipped out, so thought he might look a bit silly with the tache left on!

It was particulary glorious this evening...............he'd been rooting around the bottom of the hedge so there was 2 inches of dangling sludge slopped into my face!
I've got pictures on my phone but the darned thing won't release them! I shall take a real camera with me tomorrow.
I like it, so I think I'm going to keep it!
