I am looking to buy a saddle, I have all the measurements of the horse but not sure about getting the right cut saddle to allow for shoulder movement. I dont know what the terms straight cut etc mean. Any info advise appreciated

If you don't know much about saddle fit, then please get a saddle fitter in to advise & fit your horse. Many do 2nd hand - mine didn't have one that suited though, however she had a New thorowgood cob, which worked well. She was happy for me to then sourse a 2nd hand one on evil bay & came back to tweak it once i'd used it a while.
Only had to pay the call outs.

I'd definitely get it fitted properly and can recommend a Kent & Master cob GP saddle as the gullet bars are interchangeable so as/if your horse changes shape, you can adjust your saddle (it was a god send as my "project" went from XXW to MW!)

For many cobs a thorowgood adjustable gullet cob saddle works well (Kent and masters are I think leather saddles based on the Thorowgood tree). One reason is that there is a 4th breaching girth strap which helps the saddle to stay in place on flat backed coblets. Both are readily saleable if you can't get a saddler to fit it beforehand because they are adjustable and not too expensive.

Ideally get a saddle fitter out, if you do and want something posher then recommend an ideal highland and cob saddle (H and C). My horse is a size smaller (xw) in the ideal than she is in the Thorowgood (xxw).
