Im getting peed off with my saddle. Its for my Welsh Sec D who is typically barrel shaped with no wither so my issue is it slipping side to side. Ive coped for the past 3 years but wish I didnt have to keep sorting it! He's got a Wintec Cob (or Wintec Wide, whatever its called!) as he is an extra wide fit. He does have big shoulders as you can imagine.

The Wintec is comfy except for the slipping. But Im finding the flaps not forward cut / supportive enough for my knee when jumping.

Any ideas as to what saddle would suit him????

Contact Peter Wilkinson at Fylde Saddlery. I have a Fylde Ray on my Section D and it is perfect and can easily be adjusted.

Saddle Company saddles are supposed to be very good for cobs, I think Patches has one

I had the same problem and got one of the New equine wear NEW saddle mesh pads for slipping its great they retail about £10 look up google and read up also rideaway do a racing pad that looks sturdier for under £10, I found wintec ruined my horses back and had a saddle made also ive got a cliff barnsby saddle that is even better, good luck.

I use a Silhouette saddle for both of my horses.
My local saddler stocks them, but I think they're not that expensive to get made to measure (google them!).
If it's slipping from side to side it might not be wide enough. Chloe went from an XW to a XXW this year as hers was slipping to the left. We've had to get WH saddles though as the GPs are just too restrictive on their shoulders.
The DH samber is also a good shape for the wider, flatter horse, and is fairly forward cut for a workers saddle.

A change of numnah or girth might help. My Welsh D sounds very similiar and he wears an Ideal Event saddle, that was made to measure and has a point strap to anchor the saddle.
