Hi, i've got a 16hh chunky monkey and have tried a 6'3" Weatherbeeta on him and although there is plenty of length it seems a very snug fit around the front.
Can anyone recommend a make of rug that allows for the larger 'person'

Jumpers horse line seem quite big around the front.

My 14.3 chunky monkey is in 6'3 which fits perfectly (anything smaller just doesn't fit round the front!) so i would say just buy bigger. For 16hh you could even go up to the 7ft ones if you can find them!

OMG 14.3=6'3

My 14.3 takes a 6'3'' too (and even then they can be too tight around the front). But then he is pretty 'substantially built' and has huge shoulders.

My main problem is how low-set his neck is, lots of rugs have a tendency to strangle him when he puts his head down to graze. I don't go with one particular brand, but just check the front fastenings carefully (how high they are and and the type).

I have a smiliar problem with my chunky monkey.

I find that the best fits are Fal, Masta and Horsewear.

My 16.3 lad takes a 7'3"!

weatherbeeta- ORIGIONAL (sp) not the silly free style rubbish - both my boyus have/are in the old weatherbeeta which they have relaunched due to many complaints re the rubbish fit of the freestyle!!!! either that or the new but expensive rambo for chunks is it excel or similar. I also have had masta avoid mark todd as vvvv narrow and i also could not squish him into the normal horeware stuff even with chest extender. Both my boys have/ are wearing 6'9 and 7ft rugs

have fun

I have a 15.3hh heavy weight cob and I find that the Masta stable rugs are great for his chest size but I have bought 6'9 as he's broad every where and that Fal light weight turn-out but again the Masta for really cold weather. you do need strenght to put them on, but they are well worth the money, wear well wash up well and last for years
