We went for a change of scene after going to Duckhurst for 3 months, and went to Cobham Manor.
We arrived just as they started the first class, so I had plenty of time to get ready, warm up and walk the course for the 80cm open. It was a nice flowing course, they had put up a couple of tricky combinations but nothing too difficult, the only problem I had was the fillers. To my surprise, we jumped a clear and we were in the jump off. I had to wait a while, and then we went in. It was a twisty jump off, as they all are, and I think someone up there was with me that day as we should have had 2 fences down, but that's the thing with showjumping - if you brush it it'll fall down, if you clobber it it'll stay up! We finished on a good time and although a couple of girls beat our time they had a pole so we won!
It was my first ever placing BSJA so Boomer got lots of Polos
We watched the BN and then I did the 90cm open. The course was OK again, but they had moved a few jumps and put a few nasty turns in. Again, we jumped a clear and were in the jump off! Because there was more than 30 starters they split the class into disco. and open, so there were only 6 people in my section! The jump off went badly, i pushed him too much into the first fence and had it down, and then we ran out at the second fence
We finished the course ok, but they only did 1st place, so obviously we didn't get anything.
I came home with a smile on my face - it was only 10 months ago that I couldn't get round a 2ft course without getting eliminated! Photos & video will be up in PG as soon as I can get them.
