My coloured mare lives out 24/7 and has a fair bit of feather and pink skin 
i checked for mud fever about 2 weeks ago and they felt pretty dry and no signs. Same with the colt - he has 4 white socks and he is a section D but his field isnt as wet.
Due to get a friend today to help me (heavily pregnant so unable to bend down and look myself!) bit worried about what i may find! have no stables or hard-standing so if they have got it will have to arrange a drier place for them to go to (are there any though?!) bit worried about it all really as everywhere so muddy and wet and with more rain forecast for the next week or so its looking grim!!
Is anyone else in a similar position?
They have never had mud fever before despite being in mud in previous 3 winters - i never ever touch the legs till the spring.
