At what age did your dog start cocking his leg? The puppies are not even attempting it yet. I'm sure Jake and Brig had started at this age:confused: although even now, Brig will squat at home but always cocks the leg when out.

Jim was something stupid like 4 months old when he first cocked his leg - I was gobsmacked because of how young he was! He's only puppy squatted once since and that was last week when we went away....he's 5yrs old!!!!

My friend's dog almost always squatted even as an adult
 
Henry didn't cock his leg when I first got him - although I do wonder if it was just because he was too fat to be able to balance!:eek: He probably started when he was about 2 - 2.5 years old.

Barney never really did, we always thought it was because we neutered him too young?
 
my two boys still pee like girls , one is 11 yrs and the other is 9 months. both castrated. they both can cock their legs if they feel the need to mark a spot but squat for a proper leak.
 
My JRT has cocked his leg since he was 4-5 months old, is now 8 months old & hasn't squatted since. My Dad's castrated greyhound has never cocked his leg. Definately to do with the dog, not company as we also have a springer who has never cocked although our other 3 have always cocked. Personally, I would rather they didn't cock! :)
 
I was told they start to cock when they become sexually mature. Have no idea whether it's true or not. Dexter was around 6 months old. His Dad stressed about it big time. You could almost smell hi relief when "his boy" cocked for the first time. :rolleyes:
