If you had to describe a certain breed as being one of the above, how would you?

For instance, Trakehners and Hanoverians are, I think, described as Warmbloods.

And TB's as hotbloods

So where would you put some of the other breeds such as:

Arab
Welsh
Shetland
Knabstrupper

And then does it follow that 'hotness' of the breed determines what sort of activity or sport it takes part in?

Please discuss

Arab def hot, welsh in theory ponies are cold but in practice have often been 'improved' over the years with some TB or Arab blood some luke warm
Shettie cold.

Knabstrupper same as above, dependant on type - heavy or finer.

Speed horses were/are hot-blooded, whilst cart/heavier horses were/are cold-blooded I think.
Arab I think is hot-blooded and the likes of welsh cold-blooded.
Warmbloods are mixes of hot and cold blooded horses, so all the welshx TB are in fact warmbloods!!!

Yes Arabs and TB are hot bloods, I thought a pure bred Hanovarian would be a cold blood and being crossed with a TB would then make it a warmblood?

Axel is very hot blooded being 50% Arab 25% TB and 25% Hanovarian!

Draught horses are considered to be cold bloods, TB's and Arab's are hotbloods and when you cross the two you get warmbloods!

we actually got a lecture on this topic, and yes arabs are hot blooded (hence used for racing!) Welsh, I would think would be classed as warm...... doubt they would be cold and they are DEFINETLY not hot! Shetty cold.
no idea what the last breed is.

Yes generally the "hotness" of a breed determines what activity they are used for.
Hot blooded horses are used for activities such as racing that requires stamina and speed, so high ENERGY activities.
Warm blooded horses and generally all rounders as they have a combination of both warm and cold, so HEY best of both (obv individuals differ, so activities for each differ)
Cold blooded originally been used for working stock, as are calm/laid back and 9/10 are big strong and weight carriers. e.g. Shire, Clydsdale etc

Hope this helps! although where the term "hot blooded" comes from I am not sure! probably arab racing..... but thats a guess!
