Does anyone know anything about the formation of food balls in the bowel caused by the feeding of alfalfa. These food balls are hard like stones and can be as big as a football. I am told that they form because of the high level of calcium in alfalfa and are common among American thoroughbreds who do not get out to graze.
I would particularly like to trace any clinical papers or journal articles relating to this condition but would also be very interested in anybodies experience of this condition. Did it reoccur, what you did to prevent it and general prognosis.
Many thanks
