My 7 mth foal has short sharp bursts of colic, one minute he's laying down with laboured breathing, and after about 30 mins he's up eating and bronking round the stable shouting to the others.
this has happened a couple of times over the last few weeks the first time i rang the vets but cancelled because he was fine.
Is this not unusual in foals or should i be worried?

I would be concerned because there may be an underlying problem. One of the biggest causes of colic in foals is worm damage - when people thinkt hey have followed a sensible worming program but have missed one of the problem groups out eg tapeworm or red worm. I would discuss the problem with your vet, probably get the foal worm counted and take it from there. Any recurrent spasmodic colic should definitely be investigated.

It's quite common for foals to have gastric ulcers and associated colic symptoms because of this - Definitely speak with your vet about this.
Hope you find a solution.

i'd get vet to give him a once over. could be something simple or could be the start of something more serious.
