The geldings had all escaped their field at some point during the night. One of them had got trapped between the electric fencing and the hedge, struggled and finally managed to break into the jump paddock - we could see the fencing was broken.
He then careered around the jump paddock because he couldn't see the other escapees, which were down the far end of the field eating long grass and quite happy.
When he was found this morning he was lathered in sweat and had been rolling - covered in mud and sweat and he's a grey.
well, much time was spent walking him around, before the vet arrived, he looked completely exhausted and we did wonder whether it was colic or not? but he kept attempting to collapse, legs buckling everywhere. Vet said she was pretty sure it was colic and that she couldn't hear any gut noise and that he had a raised heart rate. He was given all manner of drugs and taken to the horse hospital for scans etc.
Loads of twisted gut so he's had colic surgery, which took nearly 4 hours - vets have said the surgery went well, they removed a lot of gut and he's currently on his feet.
Saw his owner earlier this evening and she was grabbing rugs etc to take to him because vets have said she can visit now he's up on his feet.
She looks totally worn out but said she needed to give him the chance because he means so much to her so could everyone please send some famous HHO healing vibes and hugs to Fiona and Henry.
Thank you so much, have something healthy to eat and unhealthy to drink
