Hi,
Been to see him again this morning - he's still living and didn't appear to be in any pain or show any colic symptoms. Vet told my that during the night they thought they might have to end it, he was not looking good, temp was up to 41 and his heart rate 72!!! They went into surgery for another emergency colic, came back out and he was playing with his treat ball and munching his hay - so they re-thought that one!!!
Took him out for a walk in hand this morning, quite weak but the change of scenery seemed to perk him up a bit. From speaking to the vet i think they are just puzzled as to what is going on with him, the antibiotics may be working slightly but there seems to be so much other stuff going on (bloody urine, possible liver problems etc) that he is not responding at all how they would expect. So I am still left in limbo, waiting for news be it good or bad. Tomorrow some very experienced vet is coming to the hospital and the other vets will be back on duty so hopefully they can come to some sort of conclusion. In the meantime I'm sitting tight.
Thank you all for your concern, makes me feel like i'm not going through this on my own.

Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly from here

Will keep thinking of you both and really do hope for a positive outcome. Chin up, sounds like your boy is really holding his own right now.

Thanks for the update hun, been waiting to hear from you. Its a very good sign that he perked up when you took him out for a walk and that he is interested in his ball! We will all keep sending you healing vibes. You havnt told us his name!

Its Blade, he is a 13yr, bay ISH and he's the first horse I've owned - a total sweetheart. I'm not really feeling like its fantastic news though, they were talking about doing a post mortem on him if he doesn't make it this morning to try find out what is/was going on inside. So I don't think they are too confident. As Shilasdair said yesterday though, where there's life there's hope. I'm am just glad that he doesn't seem to be in as much pain today.

Thanks for the update...my OH and I had been thinking about you, having had our own experiences with colic earlier this year.
There's not much you can do as an owner, except hope for the best, and prepare for the worst. Oh, and the pointless worrying, too!
If he's well enough to eat hay and go walkies...that's a good sign. They gave my girl 50:50 chances...and she's still here.

I so hope that this ends up with a happy ending. I have my fingers crossed for you.
Blade sounds like a trooper - I'm sure if its possible to get through this he will.
My heart goes out to you, please try to stay positive.
