Today was a normal day, and my old boy (30) went out into the field as fresh as a daisy!! Trotted off, rolled and grazed..

But this evening i went to bring him in and i could see the moment i set eyes on him something was wrong

. Whilst he normally runs in, he was stood with his head low down and wasn't moving, like it hurt to move.

I walked him in, at this point i was v worried,he wasn't dragging me to the lush grass and generally being rude like normal. He stood in the stable for a moment and started to paw the ground and try to roll at this point i held his head up and called the vet.

She came within an instant and has given him two injections, one for pain and the other to disburse whatever gas there is in hos stomach. After approx 20 mins he seemed alot better so i'm just about to go down again to check on him.

I thought i would post on here so you could send some healing vibes to my boy, so he has a quick recovery.

I love this horse so much, i've had him for 16 years and he has done everything with me, from HOYS to eventing at the grand old age of 28.

Heres a lovely piccy of him at Marchington (28)

Hope it passes quickly and he's better in the morning. My horse has had two bouts this year, both linked to worming. Can you think of anything that might have triggered it?

Yes you are a true woman, capable of multi-tasking, like holding up the head of a colicking horse that wants to roll in its stable, and calling the vet with the other hand!

Vibes for lovely old horsie (((Get better old chap)))

Just been down to the yard again, and he looks so much better..being a bit of a devil he tried to get into the feed locker with me when i was making him a small tea..so at least i know he's just about back to his usual self.

The vet said he had all the signs of spasmodic colic, so fingers crossed. Thanks for all the kind comments and vibes.

Sorry to hear about your little chap, its awful to see them go down with colic. I hope he's feeling a lot more settled now, and hopefully just had a bit of excess gas trapped. ((hugs))

Hope hes ok. My fellow got a bad bout last year and kept collapsing on the way to stable. No fun trying to get a 16"3 up. Within 20 mins of injections he was so much better.
