Vibes please for my beloved Dexter cob
I got to the yard after work and he came running to the gate, calling to me. He then laid down so i rushed over, got him up and he went straight back down. I phoned the vet, best friend and OH and within 20 mins everyone was there helping. It appears to be spasmodic colic, most likely caused by stress but thats just a guess as we have no idea what he could be stressed about.
I have just been down to check on him-. He is comfy in his bedroom- furious at the lack of food but *touches wood, whistles and crosses everything* seems much brighter, he hasnt gone down since the vet came and has drunk a little water. I will go again at midnight.

As instructed by vet, i went back at 5.30 am and let him into the bare grass paddock and soaked some nuts so when i came down at 8am i could feed him the mush. He was VERY pleased to see his food bowl

which was half compacted and half cowpat consistancy so hopefully the small impaction the vet could feel has passed.

Huge thanks to Thames Valley Equine Vet Clinic/Pietro who came so fast last night and to OH & Melski who built a lovely stable for him out of the field shelter in an hour while i was walking him around.

I'm so relieved for you LIM. Even the lowest level colic is majorly scary. And it sounds as if you have a lovely yard and vet practice. It's amazing isn't it when everyone rallies round when a ned is ill! I'd keep a very close eye on him for a good while as my understanding is that impaction colics can recur. Fingers crossed it was just piggishness over a feed or something lol xxx

Glad he is feeling better, I have one which went through a period of colicking every week - each time it was the same & reacted straight away to a shot of buscopan!
It was horrible to see though - he would jus lay flat out & groan - he honestly looked like he was dying which is very scary for any owner!

So glad he's back to his normal self!! I don't think i've driven so fast ever ever ever!!
