I was wondering whether anyone had used it on anxious horses?

Grace works really well at competitions but as we are loading and when we get there she becomes neurotic to the point that when I got on her on Wednesday she did a small rear (feet came off the floor but didn't go fully up). As soon as I walked her on she was fine and warmed up fantastically, no spooking or tense muscles.

She also does a burping sound when she is really worked up that I think is a bit like wind sucking... it doesn't happen very often, only when she is in this mood and I was wondering whether anyone had any success with the product for issues like this?

I have emailed the company and am waiting for a reply

The owner of the company has just had a baby so could be why you have not had a reply.

I have a horse who can get colicky in stressful situations I have used the Coligone liquid very successfully. If he is going to be in a situation that might stress him I give him a dose "to be on the safe side" and it works. Apparently it lines the stomach and prevents the acid causing upset, it is competition legal and a very useful product, I always have some on the lorry and at home.

I was thinking of using it for Chantin. Hs mum is the best person to talk to as she made it for H, but she maybe really really busy atm with the baby and all.

Thanks... I would probably be looking to use it on a regular basis as we are now out two or three times a week, whether it be competing or having a lesson. She can also make this noise if she is really worried about something on a hack, so perhaps it could be something that would help her.

Is there a product that can be used daily?

She is on a calmer at the moment (SoKalm) but I am not convinced that it is actually doing anything and once we have finished this tub I am a bit dubious about buying another one if it means wasting money on something that is not going to help.

I didn't even know she was having a baby!

No wonder she has not emailed me back... I only emailed her this morning though

I was just trying to get some feed back from people who have used it and whether anyone has used it for this type of problem. As soon as I put her travel boots on she starts running around the stable and is so eager to get on the trailer she trots up the ramp

We use it on OH's stressy mare who will wind herself up to the point of colic - before Coligone all that had worked with her was regumate and the marble (which she spat out!)

She's been on half a measure of liquid Coligone daily for about a year now and it is the best thing we've ever done - mareish behaviour has stopped, she doesn't get tight behind the saddle when she first comes into season and no hissy fits at all (apart from getting bored being clipped but that was also the first time she'd ever been clipped without sedation)

It is brilliant - can't recommend it enough

We get through a bottle approx a month so doesn't even work out expensive

How come you didnt know? Im sure it was BBS that put a post up in SB?
oh she sounds like fun! I dont bother with boots anymore, but mine are all barefoot so cant do as much damage now. CAn you get Grace to give Chantin some of that umph to go on the trailer.
Ive just put Chantin on the Blue Chip Karma. It seems to be working well and from what the bottle says you can give them a shot of so much about 45 mins before you go places. Im assuming thats the kind of thing that H's mum has priduced with the coligone.

BTW - you know that tip you gave me about loading her as soon as we unloaded her when we go out to places. It worked, however now she thinks all she has to do is run on as soon as shes off! She spooked on Wednesday night and wouldnt go back on cos the ramp was wet and looked scary, so I made her go on/off a few times. Was just about to take her halter off when she flew straight on and fell over and skinned her head in 2 places - silly horse, but glad shes going on now when we want to come home!!
Thanks for the tip hun, it seems to have worked

I'm really pleased she is going on and off now when you want her to... I am sure you will be able to iron out the little problems when she becomes more confident about loading.

When Max came out to Hannah he loaded her what must have been over 60 times... repetition is key with horses I think. Then when I came to start loading Grace I did load her quite a few times before we travelled and reloaded her as soon as we got anywhere. I still do it with Hannah now just in case she has had a bad journey etc etc.

its a huge weight off my mind now not having to hope and pray she'll just walk on. It makes going out more enjoyable. Weve done a few shows and going to lessons every week so next thing is finding some dressage comps for us to go to. Shes also behaving so much better under saddle. No more napping ot the other riders or rearing in the middle of the arena when people hurtle towards her!
I think its all coming together nicely now.

That sounds like an interesting story - I did not know they were connected.
