My lad does not like the minty taste of coligone and am considering swapping him over to Equine America u guard. Have looked at their website and the products look similiar, so any advice please.....
Thanks
Difficult to help as many people will probably have tried one or the other. The only experience I have is of Coligone and it's very effective. It comes as either the peppermint powder or an aniseed liquid. If your horse doesn't like the peppermint taste I'd try the liquid, though the aniseed is quite strong. When my new little rescue Shetland arrived she was a bit squitty - we think because of the stress of a very long journey and change in routine etc. I decided to put her on Coligone for a couple of weeks and slapped a good amount in her next feed. Well, Shetlands only need titchy feeds of a handful of Hi Fi Lite in a bowl so I think the Coligone overwhelmed her at first and she wouldn't eat it. But I cut it right down to just a teaspoonful, mixed a bit of the water from the speedibeet bucket with it and gradually increased it. She ate every scrap then. She's squit free again now - I truly rate Coligone as superb. Good luck x
My sister uses the U gard, and its done the trick for her boy. Shes now halved the dosage, and he's still happy.
The U gard is in pellet form, so easy to feed and not overly scented with anything, so can be mixed just with a handful of chaff if needed
