My new horse developed 2 small lumps in the girth area a couple of months ago, no scab, one is size of a small pea in between his legs where girth goes and other is smaller than that and just in front of where the girth goes between his front legs.

Had vet out as they didn't seem to be going. Only change was from a wintec girth to a kieffer neoprene one which I know makes them sweat more but he has a tendency to bronc in other girths.

Vet is not entirely sure what they are but wants to remove them and test them.

After doing some research I think they might be Collagen granulomas. I am in 2 minds whether to have them removed as it means at least 3 weeks off with a bit of lunge work as he starts to heal and that's not ideal as he is pretty sprightly and young. Also they don't bother him if you squeeze them etc but what makes me want to have them removed is this tendency he has to bronc in other girths, could be related and the risk that they get bigger and do start causing him real probs and then you have a bigger lump to remove.

Anyone had any experience of these or got any advice for what to do please?

thanks ever so

Consider injecting them with triamcinolone. If they respond to intra-lesional steroids they are likely collagen granulomas. This is a less invasive and possibly curative option.
