Collateral ligament

My horse that had the problems with his hock has now had his scans etc and he has collateral ligamnet damage in his hock,you could see the black hole

i have been told box rest for him for a month,then a trot up to see how he is,he was much better at his trot up before his scan.
He has started shockwave treatment and the vet did suggest putting him on tildren but not sure about that

mine has hurt both coffin joint collateral ligaments in both front feet and has just completed 3 lots of shockwave, although he is not on box rest as wouldnt settle is in small paddock 15m x 15m. He has other issues too but is due back for assesment on the 27th July. I have put my boy on a supplement similar to cortaflex called Equiflex

I've only ever heard of damage to the collateral ligaments within coffin joints so unless it's similar I'm afraid I can't be of help.

trying to keep on box rst for a month has been a nightmare i tell you he has got out twice! still almost there.
I did think of putting him a small paddock?

i just knew that my horse would not settle so a 15m x 15m paddock would keep him calmer, leading in for physio, farrier vet etc is much more fun now though, summer paddocks are about a 2 min walk which somehow seems much shorter now!!!!! I think the way he behaves sometimes he must definately be feeling better!!!! Where abouts are you based? Feel free to PM me. I have found so much support on this forum it has helped to keep me relatively sane without it i would have lost it about 6 weeks ago. I am even managing to be chilled enought to go away for a week and leave 4 people to look after him hahahaha i am still paranoid obviously lol
