I think I've had "fat Jess" as she's fondly known now for about 10 weeks?!
We have tried hard with the weight loss, think she weighed 29kg at first. It was hard as she was very inactive and much preferred to lie in bed than go out!
I had to start the course fresh of injections as they had been let slide so I think she was 27kg in the first and 26kg at the second visit.
She's now a different dog, loving her walks and will even leave the house in the rain😱
Today we return after 6 weeks for a weigh in.... I'm so ridiculously nervous!!! 😳

She was 24.5 kg which sounded a bit rubbish to me but the nurse seemed really pleased. She said they wouldn't want her to loose too quickly but that that rate was good.
Back in a month. O/h thinks it's a waste of time but it's a free service and gives us bit of a goal.
She's become so much more active and shows no stiffness or limping anymore since loosing some of the weight and getting fitter :)
I'd definitely never buy a young collie out of choice.... They must be mad as youngsters. At nearly 9 this one wears me out!

I always tell myself that muscle weighs more than fat, so if she looks a lot more toned she won't necessarily lose all the fat, just rebuild it properly elsewhere.

I think you are doing really well with her.Slow and steady is a healthy way to go...
I want to see a kg off my little schnauzer pup( 9 kg and should be 8 kg) as she has just been spayed and hopefully we won't see her put on any more weight. I am upping her excercise now and keeping all treats to a minimum...
one year I put my two, then middle aged, standard poodle girls ,on a strict diet and we all lost weight, but mainly by upping the excercise...good for everyone.
I like to see a dog really lean...a nice waist and the ribs palpable under the skin, but nicely covered.
If you make a fist, rub your finger over the back of your hand, the knuckles and the fingers.......the back of your hand is like a fat dog,the knuckles are a thin dog and the fingers are just right...
