as title, currently using quic-colour on the bays but finding it doesnt lather well so takes lot per horse and is very expensive! tried hilton herbs chesnut shamppo- and found it lathered better but didnt give such a rich shine-any reccomendations?

do like the hilton herbs blue shampoo for the grey, better than quic silver in fact. has anyone tried vetrolin brite 'n' white purple one?

TIA :)

For whitening (when I had a blue and white coloured) tesco value shampoo, soap flakes and equine blue.

I use a copper tones tones shampoo on my boy....not sure of the brand just got it in my local tack shop, its really good, and white bits really white too

Wahl Diamond White shampoo, and RECKITT'S BLUE!!! I have two greys, and had SEVEN to get ready for hunting last season, they were bathed with the shampoo if they had to be - ie: legs and tails, but apart from that, reckitt's blue dissolved in a bucket of warm water, sponged all over after a bath and left on, or sponged onto stable stains gets rid of them instantly!

The shampoo i have found is the best is Asda value shampoo, i have only used it on Monty's tail but it got it nice and white which i was shocked with as it was really stained and dirty.
It didn't stay nice for long though as he poos down his tail:(

I use Dreamcoat by Carr Day & Martin. I have used the shampoo for Blacks, Dark bays and Chesnuts and found them brilliant. I have tried most of the whit shampoos and found that Diamond by WAHL is by far the best.

To get your shampoo to lather better have you tried using a human shower puff to massage it in to the horses coat? Works brilliantly, cleans a lot deeper and means you use a lot less shampoo.

For whitening I like Lynn Russells Quick Brite shampoo - gets rid of any stubborn marks and brings greys up really well.

Definitely agree with the others Wahls diamond white is the only thing I'll use on my coloured and it scrubs him up pretty well..

I put a dollop of equine blue which you get from http://www.equineblue.com

I like Tresume deep cleansing shampoo with this in to get Stinky's white bits white than white, enhancing the dark bay and bringing up the black.

Kub, you can get Grannies soap flakes from Tesco - very good on feather for those with sensitive skin, and you can also put the equine blue in them for taking the yellow out of the hair.

Wowza, Bri, my transition lenses started to turn when I looked at that pic! Those white bits are WHITE!!

Prince33Sp4rkle, do you like quic color apart from the un-foamyness? Currently going through the tack shop's shampoo shelf for my bay and not finding anything particularly inspiring.

yep, apart from the lack of lather i LOVE quic colour as it gives them a gorgeous metallic sheen.

do use a shower puff (pink, clearly!) but it just doesnt give that lovely foamy lather that makes it easier to spread/scrub in.

....wonder if mixing quic colour with the hilton herbs would work, would the lather from the HH spread the quic colour out better???!!!

thanks all, can get the wahl whitening shampoo from the same place i get my quic colour so will give that a shot.

does anyone use any of the supreme products shampoos?

I have OCD when it comes to getting my piebald looking tip top and the brands I keep coming back to are:

Cowboy magic - shine in yellow out
Supreme products
wahl diamond white
Lyn Russell quick brite.

The other thing I use for his tail is steredent tablets

NAF wash and show for redheads/bay for my bright bay.
blue rinse for greys! cheap too!:)
and fairy liquid often too for everything

I like Dreamcoat (Use the chestnut one) as you get a lovely shiny coat. Otherwise use NAF tea tree as my boy is very sensitive and reacts to most others.

i use gallop grey shampoo it works great i also use NAF wash n show greys it ok as a general shampoo but not as whitening or colour enhancing :(

Carr, Day & Martin Gallop colour enhancing shampoo + Blue shampoo for socks =

I use to just use any old shampoo and then give him a blue rinse (using Supreme blue powder), excellent for grey but also produces a good shine on darks/bays but I am a convert to the Gallop stuff now!

wahl diamond white on both the justin grey and dylan( bay with four white socks) makes his coat super shiny and his sock a lil whiter

then chalk powder mixed with water into a paste, put up there legs on the justin and ondyls socks, leave it to dry then brush off

wow!

think i will try the gallop stuff :)

I was really impressed when I started using it! He does also have seaweed & soya oil which certainly goes some way to helping the shine, but I swear it has an iredescant (sp?) shine that is just brilliant. The 2nd picture is also after a days showing in 30oc so he has a lovely layer of dried sweat...but is still shiny!

Also second bliss87 chalk mixed into a paste...if I can be bothered to mix it up I will to that too, but usually for showing less for dressage
