I am new here but have lurked for a long While!
I know there are lots of colour expert around so what colour would you call my rising 5 TB X connie. On his passport it says dun(bred in Ireland).I know there is no dun gene in Connie's and not aware of one in TB's. Is he a buckskin of some type?

There is cream in connies so the duns you hear of are actually buckskin. He does look like he could be a dark shade of buckskin or a sootyish buckskin as his muzzle is quite yellow/cream. If you had any foal pics is can be easier to tell or if not you could test. It is more difficult with darker shades.

Certainly no expert - but he looks like mine and I've been told dark sooty buckskin (he's also got some Connie and his passport says Dun!)

As a baby he was cream coloured with dark muzzle

He's what is known here as a biscuit dun. We do not use the term buckskin here. Despite what names the colour geneticists have decided to use as definitions (based on American terminology), the traditional description dun comes from the Irish (gaeilige) "donn" which means brown in English.
