I know this has been done before (but I can't find it), which are the best colour genetic / colour predicting sites............. or (if anyone is feeling super helpful

) if I had a chestnut mare what colour stallion would I have to put her to, to breed a dun or palamino foal?

If your mare is chestnut, you won't be able to breed a dun foal! Being a chestnut, she can only pass on the chestnut gene.
If you used a cremello stallion you would definately get a palamino foal as it would have chestnut from the dam + cremello from the sire which = a pally foal!

By dun you probably mean buckskin. If you bred her to a perlino stallion who didn't carry the chestnut gene himself, you would get buckskin (assuming either the stallion or your mare were also homozygous for agouti).

Agree with what Volatis says - by dun you probably mean buckskin. But if you truly did mean dun, you could breed a true dun, but putting her to a dun stallion.

I bred a chestnut dun foal this year by putting a chestnut mare to a chestnut dun stallion.

Someone gave me a link to a site called 'colour calculator' or something like that, and I did look up this combination - on this site you just type in the parents' colours and it gives you the percentage chances of different colour outcomes. But now of course I can't remember what the outcomes were - and can't find the blasted link!

Sorry - not being a great deal of help here! Does anyone know the site, or one like it?
