What do you call a dark maroon purple??

I need a colour name for our bridles!

Nope its not aubergine - the colour has more red in it...

I am searching the net, but can only find html code rather than colour names!!

Burgundy, Firebrick (haha). these IT geeks who make colour charts arnt very imaginative with colour names

But Maroon is techically red rather than purple?

Nearest match is "Tyrian Purple", doesn't sound like a great name for a bridle though!!

At the risk of being a boring old fart, what is wrong with plain old Maroon? Just thinking if you give it a more fancy name it confuses people and it could be worth more trouble in the end.. But if you want a fancier name you could go with

Burgundy
Dark ruby
Deep plum
Sienna Red
Indian Red

Or go with some grape names LOL Merlot..
