Been poulticing dear old Harry since Wednesday, 3 days wet and dry since yesterday.

Really pleased the last couple of days because he is walking better, but when I change poultice, there are 2 spots on his coronet band that look like a site where pus is draining.

Basically, what is coming out is black and stinking!! Is this normal??

Nothing is drawing under sole, but just out of coronet band area.

Have spoken to vet this morning and she has told me to keep poulticing (dry) till Monday and she'll be out to see him

Ps. He is a lot happier..........

Pus in the foot normally does come out black. It finds the weakest place to burst out hence coming out through the coronet band.

^^^^^^ never knew that! thank god I read that, I would have had an absolute duck fit if it had been one of mine lol! I've only ever poulticed and had greeny yellowy stuff come out gradually going clear and watery to nothing at all! If your vet was concerned they'd be coming out alot sooner, so at least you have peace of mind that it's not anything of great concern! Healing vibes for your neddie.... I hate poulticing - poor you - hope you don't have to endure it too much longer xx
