I am thinking of purchasing a coloured cob. She is a very pretty, evenly marked red and white. However, although she is super chunky and has the most bone I've ever seen on a horse, deep chest, good loins, tonnes of mane... she has very minimal feather...
Now I know if I was to show her as a traditional coloured this would have us marked down right from word go. However, would this leave us with any other options? She stands around 15hh - so I guess I could hog and clip entirely, though she has a very old fashioned head so her beautiful thick mane breaks it up a bit and would be a shame to lose.
Tia for any replies :)

Are you buying the horse to show or just ride and do the odd show for fun? if the latter then does it matter if she gets put down the line if you are enjoying the day out, if buying to show as a priority then look for something that really fits into the classes otherwise you will be trying to fit a square peg into a round hole and end up disappointed.
She doesn't sound as if she will have the quality to be a show cob so clipping and hogging will not work, if you buy keep her hairy and you may find the feathers improve with care.
