Sorry to be so ignorant about this but i have just bought pretty lightweight cob x. She is fifteen hands but may grow an inch or two . Vet described her as light hunter stamp. She is out of a section D mare and an unknown coloured stallion. What sort of showing classes could she do? I have only been doing BSJA with my son for last few years so i know nothing about showing??

She is eligible for coloured classes and possibly cob (depending on whether she lookslike a cob or not!). For all these classes (if you are doing affiliated) she will need to be measured which yuo will know all about if you have been doing BSJA. There are two societies for coloureds - BSPA which holds classes at the RIHS and CHAPS which holds classes at HOYS. CHAPS has far more shows in the north than in the south.

They both have different classes depending on the heights, so you would need to get your horse measured before working out which class they should be in.

Both societies have a wide range of in hand classes as well.

To register as a show cob you would need to join the British Show Horse Society.

If you do not want to go down the affiliated route, then you can do all sorts of classes from coloureds, riding club horse, cob, working hunter etc etc.

By CHAPS rules, if she is being shown as a Traditional/Cob/native in coloured classes she does not have to be measured. But if being shown as a non native, so a hunter type she will have to be measured.

IrishCobs, she would have to be measured if in a CHAPS cob/native/traddy class as they are split in heights in those classes as well andything in the under 14.2hh class needs to be measured anything in the over class doesnt.
