Could some please give me an idea of what this involves?

For in Hand and Riding:

Does horse need to be plaited and pulled?
Is there a specific Bridle/Bit/Tack he needs to have?
Do i have to wear a specific outfit?

Thankyou, i plan to do some over the summer!

Horse plaited (unless its a native cob sort of coloured, if it has the lovely long flowing mane and tail left natural!) if its not though, plaits!!

Should have brown show tack, however if he is a piebald black tack is often accepted! DOuble bridle/rugby pelham/two sets of reins bit! Simple tack, numnah sitting underneath saddle if you wear one at all!

Can have velvet coloured browbands that help you stand out! or plain tack can look nice, but often the coloured browbands are worn.

Tweed jacket, canary jods, yellow/pale cream shirt, tie, black boots, navy hat with flesh coloured straps, brown gloves and show cane.....

Hope this helps! what colouring is your pony? (piccie!)

Just to add - if it's a local/novice show a snaffle bit is acceptable, as is a black or brown riding hat.

It's the same as other showing in that you ride around together, get pulled in, then do an individual show (walk, trot and canter on each rein with a halt and salute at the end, possibly including a gallop too).

Good luck

just what I got told (although I dont ride a piebald...)

Also, if you are showing at local level, tack colour is not the most important thing in the world, just helps overall appearance!

Thats where I disgaree Lucy, even at local level a lot of time and energy is invested by all, not least the judge.

I think its a bit rude to not be able to turn yourself out properly at least! (not a personal dig you understand)
