Hi all,
How long do you leave your newly gelded boys before turning out with mares?
I have always been told 5-6 weeks as this is when any sperm left in the 'pipe' is dead. I have a new boy coming who was cut on the 8th January, he is a 3 year old and a dopey cob who was in a field with geldings and next to mares and only just started to get coltish (he was gelded as soon as he started to get like this). He is the type of horse who is bottom of the pecking order so being put in his place wont be an issue!
