i am due to get new neighbours and they have a colt.there will be fencing x2 to seperate .should i be worried or will this be ok. i gather it will be post and rail with elecric on inside and i have electric fencing.
Rather you than me. My mare had an unexpected visitor in her field. A steel 5 bar gate did not keep him out, he literally climbed over it, leaving a large V shape in the bars. He tried to spend the afternoon bonking my Mare, who kicked 10 bells out of him. Luckily a farm hand came and caught him. He was a 10 month old TB colt foal.
You need very high, very strong post and rail to keep him away from your females.
Electric fence is only any good, so long as people maintain it and it is ON properly. I do not believe electric fence will keep him away, if he is determined. Also, your girls may be a pain if they decide they fancy him.
