I have been offered 2 Section D colts for free both 8 months old and a filly yearling section D for £100. They are all registered. It will cost 170 each to geld the colts. I have 22 acres and 8 horses / ponies already but I was thinking of getting a rescue horse but did want one big enough to ride really even if I had to wait I am 5 9 and these are small types 14.2 max. Was thinking of an ex racer or an older horse.

My eldest daughter is only 5ft 5 so they would have a rider and niece is 7 she will be coming off 133 ponies probably by the time they are ready.......

What to do? Difficult to choose one if you see them all together.....

I wouldn't let your height put you off riding a Welsh D. They're much wider than your TB, so take up your leg very well.

If you have the experience to do it, it would be a great thing for the children to be involved in training them. I feel quite strongly that youngsters should learn more than just how to get on a 'made' horse and push the buttons. It's also quite exciting, so might just keep them away from boys for a bit longer ;)

I'm 5ft4 and happily rode a 14hh sec D who took up my leg as much as my 15.2 anglo, so maybe their height wont be such an issue?

If you decide to get one of these youngsters - get the one with the best conformation and temperament.
