hi. i am doing my first ever combined training next thursday it’s unaff is it necessary for me to plait for the dressage? also any advice to prepare? as i feel that i can only do so much at home. thanks X
 
It is generally considered correct to plait for dressage yes, although you shouldn't be marked down if you don't as dressage is not meant to be about turn out. It is meant to show respect for the judge however which can't be a bad plan! So if you want to do your best to be correct you should plait unless your horse is of the type (eg M&M) which is correctly shown in natural state.
 
At the venues I go to for both unaffiliated dressage and combined training, not everyone plaits. Personally I plait for dressage as it looks nice but not Combined Training as I am not too proud to grab the mane when the bay thoroughtwat puts a unique style of jumping that my instructor refers to as aerial yoga at a spooky filller.

okay thanks, i might not as i am not going to place or anything just an experience for me and my horse x

ahahah your pon sounds like a right character i can relate my horse loves to put his own 'style' into stressage. we were the only ones that didnt place last time but we got a 'special' rosette ;) think we all what that means. yeah i dont think i am going to plait as i am just going for experience x
