Combined training

Hello,

Thinking about giving combined training a go. Can I change bits between the phases or does the jumping need to be in a snaffle? Assume turnout is like dressage? Is there a gap between the stages?

it was a long time ago when i did ct but people always used to change tack, from dressage to jumping saddle etc, i assume it would be the same now.

When I've done it some people have changed tack between phases and added boots etc for jumping. In terms of timings, at one venue they give you a dressage time and then asks you to present in the arena for jumping within I think it was 20 minutes. Another gave you a dressage time and then times the jumping was running.

Most places will run the dressage phase under BD rules, and the SJ under BS rules, so can change tack. Usually have a short gap in-between but each venue does it slightly differently
