I'm looking for combo fly rugs to fit NF ponies, rug size 5'6-5'9" but have previously found the necks have been too tight and restricting, which seems uncomfortable in hot weather. Most rugs are 'modelled' by slim necked TB types so it's difficult to judge the fit for horses with shorter, stockier necks. Has anybody got any recommendations please?

I think the roomiest ones in the neck are Amigo Bug Rugs with the detachable necks, so that is what I would go for. I have also tried the Amigo Mio Bug Rug with the combi neck, but it definitely doesn't have as much room as the Bug Rug.

They are the only ones that I really like to be honest, although there must be others out there that I just haven't seen yet!

I have a warmblood with a good top line. I bought a weatherbeeta fly rug but the front and neck were too tight so I bought a Mark Todd combi one at it fits him lovely.

We have a connie and an ID in the Mark Todd Combo's and they fit their necks really well, they both have decent topline and the rugs fit snugly (as they are designed to do I must add) and we have had no rubs at all, They have a flexable insert above the withers so they don't pull back when they put their heads down. Joe (connemara) modeling his last summer complete with his Rambo fly mask :)

I also have the Mark todd combo( pic by jane lou) on my welsh cob who has a big neck, fits really well dosn't rub the mane and has uv protection and belly covering which was the main thing i wanted as he is black, it keeps him cool in the summer. Very good rug!
