Combo rug that doesnt rub the mane?

I have this problem as I have Iberian horses and the only thing that saves my horses manes are Snuggy hoods - fantastic - not cheap but worth it !
 
Hi,

Spray a good dose of Show Sheen or something similar on the inside of your neck rugs. It eliminates the abrasive actions and keep the mane intact - well it's worked for mine anyway!;)
 
Interesting post...........I have tried everything, various rugs etc over the last few years

and I am admitting defeat!!

So this year I am going neck - less, just bought a load of std rugs in the hope that my horses will have manes next summer...........
 
the manes fall out from up the neck rugs cos the rugs overheat the follicles thus the mane just falls out. you want a full mane then rug in a traditional neck and deal with a dirty neck. have you ever worn a wooly hat all day? when you take it off you just want to rub and scratch your head because you have over heated the hair follicles! if you wore it 24/7 for 4 months you too would be bald. solution if you really need to have a full neck turnout is to have a normal neck night rug to cool the follicles. or vice versus. 20 yrs ago neck rugs werent around and every horse had a nice mane.
